The Company's Head Office situated in Barnstaple, Devon enjoying the benefits of the scenic North Devon coastline and Exmoor has around 7,000 square metres of office, laboratory and manufacturing accommodation. SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Role
To design, develop, qualify and support the software that forms part of the electro-mechanical systems supplied by J & S Marine.
Duties
1. To develop software requirements and design specifications for both real time embedded and non-embedded (ie Windows based) applications.
2. To carry out detail design of software using object orientated methods and implement. Coding will typically take place using C or C#.
3. To support other teams by conducting peer reviews, as required.
4. To plan and implement integration and formal testing of software. This may include work on customer’s sites.
5. To liaise with project and other management personnel on progress and estimates to complete.
Candidate Profile
1. Your ability to work within a small team is vital, with a willingness to work with people from other engineering disciplines in order to achieve the overall objectives of the project.
2. You must have at least 3 years experience in developing embedded real time software and WindRiver Tornado VxWorks experience would be an advantage. The successful candidate should have a good digital electronics background.
3. You should be able to provide accurate estimates for undertaking software and be able to plan your work accordingly.
4. You should be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with software and other engineering personnel.
5. You should possess a relevant degree or equivalent.
6. You should hold a full UK driving license.
